Make a Wish for the New Year!

Here we are in 2026! Can you believe it?! I’m looking forward to this new year with great enthusiasm and a lot of hope for new beginnings.

On December 31st when the ball dropped in New York and the clock struck midnight, did you make a wish for the new year? What did you wish for? If you didn’t make a wish on New Year’s Eve, do it now. It’s never too late to make one. What is your intention within your wish? It’s always good to have a goal or a vision to work towards, even if it seems impossible. Your intention is the key to making all of your dreams bloom!

Once you have identified your intention, it is easier to make a plan and follow through. In Indian culture, there is a Sanskrit word sankalpa, which means to make a solemn vow. When you take this solemn vow, you begin by putting water in the palm of your cupped hand. Then you voice your vow and seal it by drinking the water and passing your hand over the crown chakra (your forehead). This vow is between you and yourself and no one else; the responsibility to complete your vow is on you. The sankalpa gives you focus. The focus must have not only belief, but also determination, perseverance, and confidence to pursue it.

Are you willing to take on the challenges and obstacles to fulfill your wish? Will you continue the journey when it seems difficult, impossible, or hopeless? Although we are still in the cold and dark of winter, there always exists the promise of the bloom. Like the ginger flower that rises from the rhizome deep in the earth, we too are waiting to manifest our dreams into reality. As long as you are rooted in your true self and have a clear intention, the bloom will be realized. Remember to appreciate and treasure the bloom when it appears, for it is fleeting, and just as in life, there are moments of joy and happiness that come and go and have to be savored and celebrated as victory in the moment until the next time you see it, feel it, or taste it.

May your intentions bloom in 2026!
